Travel hacks when staying away from home

Whether you’re looking at ways to pack lighter for your next trip to Cambridge or wondering how to find the best places to eat, these quick and simple travel hacks will make your next trip less stressful and a whole lot more peaceful.

Pack Smart

When traveling for business or pleasure, the last thing you want to do is pull a heavy suitcase along streets you’re not familiar with. Consider using the 1-2-3-4-5-6 Rule, one hat, two pairs of shoes, three bottoms, four tops, five pairs of socks, and six pairs of underwear. This should be enough to last you for 2 weeks.

Another alternative is to pre-plan your outfits on a day-to-day basis, making sure to list them down as you go. This way when you go to pack, you know exactly what you taking and if it’s not on the list, it’s not being packed! Don’t forget an outfit can be spoiled with a spilt drink or staining but this doesn’t mean you need to pack extra as at Signet Apartments you will benefit from a washer/dryer.

Prepare for your arrival

After a long day traveling, you may not want to go back out again to eat, so why not order food for your arrival? Order a food delivery for when you get there, that way you have all the basics to use, and you don’t need to go out again. There are plenty of Apps available and many restaurants in Cambridge have their own online order system and delivery service. Have a look at what’s around in the local area and make a list of restaurants you may like to try, or simply step out and embrace all that Cambridge has to offer whilst you eye up the local eatery’s.

Explore the area

Cambridge is a wonderful city to explore, there are many back streets full of independent food and retail shops to explore along with some fantastic museums and historical sites.

When you first arrive, download google maps and click on the ‘Explore’ feature. This will show you places that other people have recommended, such as restaurants and activities, saving you time later on!

If it’s a sunny day, hire a punt for the day and take in the beautiful views of the college backs, find out what you can see here.

Relax

Whether you’re working or exploring, going to a new city can be tiring! Make time to relax by heading to a show or visiting a local spa for a treatment. One little gem just outside of the city is Grantchester Tear Gardens and you can follow the river and take a stroll there which is especially nice on a warm Summers day.

However you choose to relax, find time to unwind after all visiting Cambridge cant be all work and no play. Enjoy your stay!
